Eight players were given a first-team debut but that didn’t stop a young Rangers side progressing into the semi finals with a single goal victory over Tamworth. The winner was scored three minutes after the restart. Phoenix skilfully got to the left bye-line and pulled the ball back for Edwards to slot home from 6 yards out. On 86 minutes Ridgway cleared a shot from Francis off the line. Then in injury time inside the Rangers area, Gibson cleared Jimmy Turner’s shot off the line to sent the young Rangers side through and prevent a penalty shoot out. Stafford face Stoke City at Marston Road in the semi-final for the right to play either Rushall or Chasetown in the Final.
