Brigg Town were within minutes away from a come-from-behind victory until Martin Ball grabbed a late equaliser for Carlton. The home side scored two unanswered first-half goals through Ball and Fabian Smith and looked to be heading for a comfortable win. However, Brigg bounced back in the second half with two goals from Jack Muldoon and a third from Stuart Ainsley.
The current Bill Stokeld Stadium is a relatively newly developed venue located next to the A612 bypass which swallowed up the old first team ground. The original second pitch was left intact to be brought up to the required standard including a stand behind the goal at the bypass end.
