Staveley Miners Welfare went top of the table with a comfortable victory over bottom side Brodsworth Welfare, with a winning margin enhanced by two late goals. Both sides scored during the opening 175 seconds and from then on Staveley missed or had saved a hatful of chances. Brodsworth, who have now lost 22 consecutive league and cup games, didn’t look that bad and keeper Ross Adamson produced a series of excellent saves; they also hit the wodwork as well. Inkersall Road is a decent ground with a 138-seat stand and additional cover behind one goal. Work on a brand new clubhouse, which was open for business, is nearing completion to provide an impressive addition to the ground that is suitable in my opinion for Evo-Stik League football. All Staveley need to do is gain promotion and return to the NCEL Premier Division for the first time since 2001. This was another good day out at a welcoming club keen to move up the pyramid.
