As I’d recently done for the East Midland Counties League, Sussex County League Division Two and Essex Senior League, I decided to see which grounds in Spartan South Midlands League Division One I had and hadn’t visited. Clubs moving ground to share elsewhere and new clubs groundsharing because they needed lights made things a bit more complicated than, say, the East Midlands and Sussex divisions.
One club on both the ‘ground to be visited’ and ‘club to be seen’ lists was Kings Langley who, according to the programme, moved to the present Gaywood Park ground in 1998. Coincidently I found I also need to visit the ground of today’s visitors Bedford FC as well as London Lions, Sun Postal Sports and Winslow United. So I decided to head, today, to Kings Langley using London Midlands trains, changing at Watford Junction both on the outward and return journeys.
