Two goals in as many minutes early in the second half did the damage and helped Shawbury United move up to second place in the Premier Division table, level on points with new leaders Wolverhampton Casuals.
In the 52nd minute, Kev McCarthy muscled his way into the Town area and got in a shot which Karl Smith turned round the left-hand post with a good diving save. The resulting corner was punched to the edge of the area by Smith where the lurking Harry Murphy volleyed home.
Two minutes later, a lapse in the Stafford defence allowed Steve O’Reilly a run on goal and he confidently fired past the helpless Smith.
Goals:
0-1 Harry Murphy (52)
0-2 Steve O’Reilly (54)
